Content : At the kick-off meeting of the new IPA – Socio Economic Partnerships programme - organized by DG Enlargement
in Istanbul, BUSINESSEUROPE presented its 4th BOSMIP project. Main objectives of BOSMIP IV are to enhance the
socio-economic dialogue in the Western Balkans and to train employer federations together with trade unions and
other CSOs (civil society organisations) in 6 countries (Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, FYROM, Kosovo, Montenegro
and Serbia) on the implications of EU accession. The kick-off event was linked with the Istanbul congress of the European Movement on the important role CSOs play in European society and the accession process. More than 300 representatives listened to plenary speeches of Enlargement Commissioner Fühle, Turkish EU Minister Bagis and European Movement President Pat Cox and debated in various working groups on the need for active engagement of civil society as vital part of EU’s enlargement with a focus on Turkey and the Western Balkans. |
